  1. You and I

From the recording My Treasure

You and I

This song simply describes how God is EVERYTHING we need. Indeed, we can’t live without Him!

Light:
“When His lamp shone upon my head, and when by His light I walked through darkness” (Job 29:3)

Peace:
“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Phil 4:7)

Joy:
“My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise Thee with joyful lips” (Psalms 63:5)

Water:
“For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.” (Jer 17:8)

Strength to Run:
“...Let us run with patience the race that is set before us” (Heb 12:1)

Hiding Place:
“Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in Thy word.” (Psalms 119:114)

May the Lord continue to keep us on His path.

“Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.” (Prov 7:25)

May our willing sacrifice, including its fragrance, and our work purified through fire, be a pleasant offering to Him, our beloved Master.

Sacrifice:
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” (Rom 12:1)

Fragrance:
“How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! How much better is thy love than wine! And the smell of thine ointments than all spices!” (Song of Sol 4:10)

Purging Fire:
“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” (1 Cor 3:11-15)

Lyrics

YOU AND I

In your light I open my eyes
To explore another day
In your peace I find my rest
Even through the stormy nights

You keep my joy and quench my thirst
When I'm in the desert land
You pick me up and keep me running
Toward the goal that's far away

O Jesus
Dear Jesus
How can I ever live without you?
Oh please hide me deep inside you
Don't ever let me go astray

O Jesus
My Jesus
Take all my love – a willing sacrifice
And purify with purging fire
For fragrance of your heart's desire
